ROLES IN THE PRACTICE
(Clinicians)
Managing Partner
The Managing Partner is charged with overseeing the fiscal policy of the Medical Centre with the collaboration of the Finance Manager and the Practice Manger and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Medical Centre. The Managing Partner is accountable to the Partnership.
Personnel Partner
The Personnel Partner, in conjunction with the Practice Manager, is responsible for overseeing all staff concerning recruitment, selection, appraisal and employment issues.
Associate
An associate is a trained doctor who works in the practice but is not a Partner. This may be a GP Retainer or FCS doctor.
GP Retainer/Flexible Careers Doctor
A GP retainer, or FCD, is a qualified GP who works with a limited time commitment to the practice, usually to accommodate his/her domestic circumstances. Our practice GP Retainer is Dr Sharon Kleinberg and our FCD is Dr Naomi Vaughan.
Pre-Registration House Officer
A Pre-Registration House Officer
is a newly qualified doctor gaining experience in an approved general practice
for a third of their House Officer year.
Registrar
A Registrar is a qualified doctor who has completed at least two years experience in hospital, prior to training as a GP in a practice under the supervision of a GP Trainer.
Nurse Practitioner
The Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has undertaken
a specific course of study of at least first degree (Honours) level.
Practice Nurse

Health Visitor
Every Practice has a named Health Visitor, employed by the NHS. She is a trained registered nurse with further specialised training to cover a variety of domestic and occupational health matters. All newly registered families with children under five years of age are requested to contact the Health Visitor.

District Nurse
District Nurses are qualified registered nurses. They are additionally trained to provide skilled nursing care and advice to housebound people of all ages in the community. They work closely with other Professionals and Voluntary Organisations to help provide the best possible care in a home setting. They include specialist nurses for:

HIV & Aids
Diabetes
Stoma Care
Breast Care
Paediatrics
Palliative Care
Infection Control
Intravenous Therapy
Macmillan Nurse
Macmillan registered nurses are specially trained staff who have a wide range of education and experience in cancer nursing, district nursing and palliative care. They are in contact with the local GP's and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of health and social professionals, co-ordinating care and providing continuity between hospital, hospice and home. They are based at St Luke's Hospice in Kenton. Our Macmillan Nurse is Hilary Weightman.
The level of involvement of the Macmillan nurses can vary from telephone advice to a single meeting or continued support over a longer period, depending on individual needs.
Phlebotomist
A phlebotomist is a person trained to take blood samples which are then sent to the hospital for analysis. The service is run at EHMC on an appointment basis.
