Requesting Repeat Prescriptions
You may be able to reduce your
trips to the medical centre if you:
·
Order on the internet (see above). If not
already registered ask Reception to give you a form to sign up for 0n-line
ordering and also for appointment booking via a secure website.
·
Otherwise when a request for repeat
prescriptions has been made using a request sheet(s) then when it is picked up
in reception you can make a request for the next prescription in advance by
filling in the request sheet(s) and posting it in the Prescriptions box. This
next prescription request is held in readiness until you need it.
· If preferred provide a SAE to have your prescription posted to you or to a convenient Pharmacy.
·
Further you can nominate a Pharmacy to collect
your prescription for you. Some Pharmacies will also hand in requests on your
behalf.
Please speak to the receptionist if you need more advice on the above options.
Repeat Medication
If the medication you have been prescribed has to be taken for a longer period of time, it may be on a repeat prescription. This means you can tick what medication you are running out of on the counterfoil (right hand page) of your prescription and hand it in to request another prescription. You will be required to visit the doctor or a nurse at certain intervals for a medication review, and you will be told how frequently this should be.
What should I do with my request when I have ticked my requirements?
You can either post it in the prescription request box at the front door or hand it in at reception. Your request will be ready for collection after three o'clock two days later.
What if I've lost the right hand page?
You can write your request on a piece of paper including your name, address and your requirements. This should be handed in to reception or posted in the prescription box at the front door.
What if I have a private prescription?
The doctors will generally be happy to make you out an NHS prescription, you should hand in your private prescription and it will normally be dealt with in the same manner as a repeat prescription request.
What if I hadn't realised I had run out of medication?
In very urgent cases we may be able to process your prescription quicker. You should contact us as soon as possible. We will generally still need your request in writing unless their are extenuating circumstances and will endeavour to have it available as soon as possible.
