ABOUT THE PRACTICE

Changes To The Way We Work

The Partners tend to see patients with complex and long-standing condition who often need more than the allocated 10 minutes. Appointments with these doctors were also limited by the need to ensure adequate provision for ‘on-the-day’ requirements. The partners now have 15-minute appointment times instead of the usual 10-minutes and do not routinely see urgent cases. These measures have improved the waiting time to see these doctors (now usually 3-4 days) and the waiting time in surgery.

We have been running some Urgent Cases surgeries for about three years, but ALL urgent cases are now seen by the nurse practitioners and the junior doctors.

Sister Jenner has a prescribing qualification so is able to issue her own prescriptions.  Sister Taylor has just finished the exams for the same qualification. They can see a whole range of problems from a tummy upset to chest pain, emergency contraception to ear ache or flu-like illness. There are always doctors on hand to offer help if needed.

And you can help us too…

Please arrive on time for your appointment – one latecomer at the
surgery at the start of a surgery can have a knock-on effect on the
     whole surgery.
Also please be realistic about what can be managed in a single
appointment – if you have a lot of things to discuss with the doctor
please be prepared to return for another appointment at a later date.

REVISED OPENING HOURS

As from 1st Oct 22008 our new opening hours will be 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday.
We will not close for lunch and our phones will remain on during those times.

We are also providing additional consultations outside our usual opening times.
We will therefore have a surgery from 7am on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and run a Saturday surgery, probably 8-10am too. These surgeries will be for pre-booked appointments. These mid-week surgeries will be staffed by one of the partners (each with a set day) and the partners will cover the Saturday surgery on a rota basis. There will be no nurse available at those times.
